ELIXIR SERIES - Part 1: "The Anthems' Café"
Never have I imbibed more stylishly and satisfyingly in my life, then at an Easy Anthems rehearsal, show or shindig.
If there exists ONE group of people that demonstrates such acute and intrinsic expertise in all things "libation," well....look no further, comrade.
Exempli gratia:
-Brian's Solomon-esque wisdom of Microbreweries and choicest hops;
-Vanesa's skills at preparing the gaucho-derived Yerba Mate;
-Philip's quest to shamelessly resurrect cocktail staples of 1950'-era Pot-Luck Dinners;
-Evan's suspicious love of bottled sweet lime juice and vodka;
-or my own vast predilections for bitters, aperitifs and digestivos, caffeinated potations and old-world medicinal liquors...
In this so-called "Elixir Series," I'd like to share with all of you our band's good taste in fine liquids.
And because this happens to be the first in the series, let's start at the very top: the PRE-REHEARSAL BEVERAGE(s).... Coffee-related elixirs no doubt get top-billing here. Those of you who are Starbucks-obsessed, please defer your judgements and save your critiques, THIS IS THE REAL THING.
THE CLASSIC ESPRESSO SODA ("Huntington Special")
In one 750 mL bottle (preferably clear, with an airtight seal) Mix:
-4 Single Shots of high quality Espresso (Illy, Lavazza, etc.)
-Raw Turbinado Sugar to taste
-Club soda/Seltzer filled to the brim
Let sit in refrigerator or ice bath for (up to) 1 hr.
Serve very cold.
Ahhh, now we're ready to start rehearsal...
Refreshing, hyped-up, rich and sweet--AND SO EASY TO MAKE!
Also, for a truly heightened Espresso Soda experience, top it off with your favorite after-dinner liqueur: Frangelico, Amaretto, Sambuca, or even Grappa!
Cheers,
PAUL

MIC CHECK...1, 2!

Hello. This is the spot where we will make some kind of revolution happen. We'll be trading 2 for 1 coupons to Little Vincent's on the way to raiding Nostalgia For Kids for all its vinyl. This will be the spot for racy video content revealing the true nature of Phil and Paul's "fishing" trips. Moreover, we hope to post lots of paintings from Vanesa and experimental photos from B-Ver. Yes, yes...I'll hand over my best mustache grooming tips to those real-fans who want a little taste of the glory.
"Sweet Lazy Day Queen", our first album as a band, is coming out at the end of June. We are all eagerly awaiting the arrival of the magic in the mail from the funky little people who print music on CDs. This album is an old-time rock revival. You'll feel the love connection from 4 Holy Bs: The Band, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and Bob Dylan. You'll also hear: Woody Allen, Jack Kerouac, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, Wes Anderson, Natalie Portman (not the crappy Stars Wars part though), The Squid and The Whale, 2AM Compari & Coke, Harry Nilsson, the entire spirit of 70s A&M Records, homemade basses and guitars, Dawkins flipping O'Reilly the bird, Einstein agitating Mileva, dollar lap-dances on off-peak hours, Stanley Kubrick, Evan performing "There Will Be Blood" as a one man play amongst a host of other beautiful oddities.
WE WANT YOU.
Eagerly awaiting your love and affection,
Evan
